Mobile devices allow us to play music or run other media files wherever we go, but computers make it possible to play our entire media library, without taking any files with us, if we have the right application installed. If you are looking for such an application, you should try MyTunesRSS. It allows you to create your own media server, on which you can view images, play music or videos, from anywhere in the world. Configuring the server is quite easy, so you will not encounter any difficulties, even if you don't have too much experience with computers.

The application is free to try for 30 days. During the evaluation period, you can enjoy all the features that MyTunesRSS provides, without any limitations. Downloading and installing the application takes only a few seconds. It works on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms and its hardware requirements are modest, but you need to install the Java runtime environment. If you don't have it, you can tick an option to install it, when you run MyTunesRSS' installation kit.

Once you run the application, your media server will start automatically. The desktop interface displays two URLs, for accessing the media server or its admin panel. You can also fill in a few input fields, on the same window, if you want to request technical assistance. The core functions are located on a web interface. The admin panel is where you may create your media library, set up one or more user accounts, update your database and make other configurations.

The media server can be accessed with a set of login credentials or with an open ID, which are created on the admin panel. Once you log in, you will find a series of smart playlists, with your 25 most played tracks, recent tracks and so on. You can either play an entire playlist or individual songs. All playlists and songs are displayed with options for playing or downloading the songs, downloading the playlists, subscribing to an RSS feed and more. It is also possible to search for specific songs.

It should go without saying that you can find and play your songs, on the same web interface, anywhere in the world, as long as you are in front of a computer with a working Internet connection. You can also decide to share your music, by creating additional user accounts or open IDs. Alternatively, you can acquire share links for individual songs and post them on a social network.

Pros

You can play your entire media library on a web browser, anywhere in the world. MyTunesRSS allows you to create playlists, share your songs, download playlists or the songs themselves. The media server is created and activated automatically when you run the application.

Cons

The application is free to try for 30 days, after which you must buy a license. With MyTunesRSS, you can make your media library available anywhere in the world, with just a few clicks.
